Statement of Faith

  • We believe the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments to be verbally inspired by God, and inerrant in the original documents and that they alone are of supreme and final authority in faith and life.  (II Tim. 3:16-17; Heb. 1:1-2; II Pet. 1:21)
  • We believe God is one in essence and three in person Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that He is the creator of heaven and earth.  (Gen. 1:1; Duet. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; John 1:1, 14; 10:30; Acts 5:3-4; II Cor. 13:14)
  • We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, the eternal Word manifested in flesh.  We believe that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and that He is truly God and truly man.  (Matt. 1:18-25; John 20:31; Phil. 2:5-8; Col. 2:9)
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.  (Jn. 1:29; Rom. 3:25-26; Heb. 10:5-19; I Pet. 2:24; 3:18; I Jn. 1:7)
  • We believe that our Lord arose from the dead, according to the Scriptures, and in the same physical body, though glorified, in which He had lived and died, and that His resurrection body is the pattern of that body which, at the return of Christ, will be given to all resurrected believers.  (Luke 24:36-43, 46; John 20:20; Acts 2:32; I Cor. 15:42-45; Phil. 3:20-21)
  • We believe that our Lord bodily ascended to heaven, is seated at His Father’s right hand, assuring us of the perfection of His work of redemption, and that He now as Head over all things to the Church is engaged on behalf of the saved as intercessor and advocate.  (Eph. 1:22-23; Heb. 1:3; 7:25; I John 2:1-2)
  • We believe in our Lord’s personal and imminent return for His redeemed ones followed by His coming in glory to judge the rebellious and to establish His millennial reign on earth.  (Zech. 14:4-11; Matt. 24:29-31; John 14:1-3; I Cor. 15:51-57;I Thess. 1:10; 4:13-18; Rev. 20:1-6)
  • We believe that the Holy Spirit, being the third person of the Godhead, convicts men of sin, regenerates, indwells, baptizes, seals and sets believers apart to a holy life; that He keeps and empowers believers day by day. We believe that He is the teacher of the Word of God and our guide for daily life.  (Matt. 28:19; John 14:16-17; 16:8-10; Rom. 8:9,11; I Cor. 2:10-13; 12:13; Eph. 1:13-14; 4:30.)
  • We believe that man was originally created in the image and after the likeness of God, and that he fell through sin; and, as a consequence of his sin, lost his spiritual life, becoming dead in trespasses and sins, and that he became subject to the power of the devil. We also believe that this spiritual death, or total depravity of human nature, has been transmitted to the entire human race of man, the Man Christ Jesus alone being excepted; and hence that every child of Adam is born into the world with a nature which not only possesses no spark of divine life, but is essentially corrupt in body, mind, and soul. And apart from God’s salvation man is lost eternally.  (Gen. 1:27; 2:17; 9:6; Ps. 14:1-3; 51:5; Jer. 17:9; Rom. 3:10-19; Eph. 2:1-3)
  • We believe that all who receive by faith alone, Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and who confess Him as such before their fellow men, are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God and become partakers of His divine nature and of eternal life.  (John 1:12-13; 3:16-18; Rom. 10:9-13; I Cor. 15:1-4; Eph. 2:8-9; Titus 3:5)
  • We believe in the eternal security and everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the eternal conscious punishment of the lost.  (Matt. 25:41; John 5:24; 10:28-29; II Thess. 1:9; Rev. 20:11-15)
  • We believe that the Church is composed solely of those who have been redeemed and washed in His blood, regenerated and sealed by the Holy Spirit, and that they are saved to worship and to serve; that it is the responsibility and privilege of all who are saved to seek to win others to Christ, to the “uttermost part of the earth”; that they should seek to live a holy life.  (Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:42; Eph. 1:13-14, 22-23; Heb. 10:24-25)
  • We believe that from the beginning of creation there is a clear distinction between male and female; they are equal, but different. Holy Scripture makes it clear that the divine design for marriage is one man and one woman in an exclusive and permanent relationship, which uniquely reflects Christ’s relationship with His Church, and that homosexuality is sinful and unnatural. That is, we believe that God created marriage to be between one biological man and one biological woman and is the only legitimate and accepted sexual relationship ordained by God.  We believe that God forbids sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and a woman.  We believe that any form of adultery, fornication, incest, polygamy, homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, cohabitation, rejection of one’s biological sex, bestiality, and pornography is a sinful perversion of God’s gift of sex and is sinful and offensive to God.  We believe that attempts to alter one’s sex by surgery or appearance reflect a heart that does not submit to God’s good and sovereign right to determine our sex and thus are disapproved of and forbidden by God.  We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female.  These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God.  Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.  (Eph. 5:21-33; Matt. 15:18-20, 19:3-9; I Cor. 6: 9-20, 7:2-5, 10-11; Gen. 1:27-28; 2:18-25; Ex. 20:14; Jer. 1:5; Rom. 1:26-27; I Thess. 4:1-8; Heb. 13:4)
  • We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.   (Acts 3:19-21; Rom.  10:9-10; I Cor. 6:9-11)
  • We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity.  Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of the ministry.  (Mark 12:28-31, Luke 6:31)
  • We believe the teaching of I Cor. 11:3 that God is the head of Christ, Christ is the head of man and man and is the head of woman.
  • Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct:  The Statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs.  The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.  For purposes of Mountain Top Youth Camp’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Board of Directors is Mountain Top Youth Camp’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s application.
  • We believe and work to preserve Mountain Top Youth Camp’s testimony for Christ  and  provide a biblical environment for everyone present at Mountain Top Youth Camp; therefore,  all persons, regardless of whether they are employees or volunteers, who serve at Mountain Top Youth Camp must agree to, respect, and abide by Mountain Top Youth Camp’s Statement of Faith (Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16; I Thess 5:22).
